Post Insertion Appointment
Follow-up appointments usually begin 7 days after insertion, in order for the patient to begin to adapt to the prosthesis and to be able to report about the fit and comfort of the new prosthesis. Inspection should include direct visualization of the ridges, disclosing and adjusting sore spots, evaluation of occlusion and clasp retention, with suitable adjustments. If problems exist, the clinician must persist in the location-and adjustment protocol until the patient is comfortable. Patients who have received a new RPD should return to regular recall in the practice.
